The Trinity Blacklands Urban Forestry Council is an organization formed to address the increasing urban forestry needs for the eight county region surrounding Dallas, Texas.

Our mission is to promote the protection and development of urban forest resources. We execute our mission by communicating important issues, needs and information about urban forest resources to our local officials, civic leaders and media.

TBUFC will sponsor select individuals in the Arboriculture or Horticulture industry to receive their ISA Certified Arborist or other ISA certification. Individuals must meet the ISA eligibility requirements, and then be selected by the TBUFC board. Individuals will be evaluated on their credentials and work history. They should provide three letters of reference to TBUFC with their Sponsorship Application. Three individuals will be selected for the 2007 calendar year.

Once selected, applicants must register and pay for the ISA Certification Exam and then register for the 2007 Texas Tree Conference. This year the scholarship will cover the cost of the Pre-Conference Tree Academy and the cost of the Full Texas Tree Conference. Upon completion of the Conference and successfully passing the ISA Certification Exam, the selected individuals will be reimbursed by TBUFC for their certification expenses. This does NOT include travel expenses!! Applicants must provide TBUFC with documentation showing completion of review course and exam, plus receipts for payment.

Selected applicants who fail to pass the exam on the first try will have one year to retake the exam once for free. TBUFC will cover the initial registration fee for the exam, but will not cover subsequent retesting fees. Upon passing the exam and submission of documented proof, TBUFC will provide the reimbursement.

Sponsorship will include a one year membership to ISA if the applicant is not already a member. The total value of the TBUFC sponsorship package is $555.00

This is a great opportunity for individuals working in the industry to further their education and career goals!
